Tariq Lamptey Extends Brighton Stay with One-Year Contract Extension

Brighton & Hove Albion, a prominent Premier League club in England, has officially announced that Ghanaian international Tariq Lamptey has penned an additional one-year deal, securing his stay with the Premier League club through the 2025-2026 season.

The 24-year-old versatile right-back, who joined Brighton in 2020, has proven to be a crucial player for the Seagulls. His impressive speed, defensive skills, and offensive contributions have made him a valuable asset. This new agreement puts an end to recent rumors suggesting a possible departure from the club this summer.

“Defender Tariq Lamptey has agreed to a one-year contract extension with Albion,” the club’s official statement confirmed. Since his debut in 2020, the Ghanaian international has made 122 appearances, scored five goals and provided 12 assists.

Brighton’s head coach, Fabian Hurzeler, expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “We’re delighted Tariq is staying with us. He wants to help the team achieve our targets and gives us great options in wide areas. We are looking forward to Tariq being part of our journey next season.”

In the 2024-25 season, Lamptey participated in 20 matches across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Since switching his international allegiance from England to Ghana in 2022, he has earned eight caps with the Black Stars. Lamptey’s contract extension provides a significant boost for Brighton as they prepare for the upcoming season under Hurzeler, with hopes of building upon their recent successes.
