Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has publicly voiced his disappointment regarding the scheduling of a national candlelight vigil for the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba. The vigil is set for Saturday, August 2, 2025, the same day Lilwin’s highly anticipated movie, “Ibrahim Traore,” is set to premiere.

In a Facebook live session on Monday, July 28, Lilwin described the organizers’ decision as “unfair and inconsiderate,” especially given the widespread public knowledge of his movie’s premiere date.
“I’m so disappointed that the organizers chose to schedule Daddy Lumba’s candlelight vigil on the same day as my movie premiere, August 2nd. That’s the day for Ibrahim Traore. This is incredibly frustrating. I’m extremely disappointed,” he stated.

Lilwin further expressed his dismay that his significant emotional and financial investments in the film project seemed to have been disregarded. He revealed he has spent nearly 1 million dollars on the movie, covering both production and promotion costs.
“I’m deeply saddened by the decision to hold Daddy Lumba’s candlelight vigil on the same day as my movie premiere. I’ve spent nearly 1 million dollars on this film, including production and promotions, and just like that, it’s being overshadowed. Everyone knew my premiere was scheduled for that day, yet the organizers went ahead with their plans. This is truly heartbreaking given the cost and the effort I’ve put into this project,” he lamented.
