You Will Marvel At The Amount Gov’t Spent On Afua Asantewaa’s Singathon – Halifax

Halifax Ansah-Addo, a popular broadcaster, has challenged Afua Asantewaa’s claims surrounding her Singathon. Asantewaa, facing criticism, had stated that revealing her experiences would cause “heads to roll.” In response, Ansah-Addo stated that if he revealed what he knows, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) would be compelled to investigate Asantewaa. This comes after Asantewaa defended herself, claiming she was unaware of a cash donation from former Vice President Bawumia.

“I wanted to do something for Ghana, and I was in that box like a baby in her mother’s womb,” Afua said, feeling unfairly criticized for saying in an interview that former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia did not give her any cash donation. I had no knowledge. If I share the specifics of the prior Singathon, people in this country will be shocked by what I went through. I have no knowledge of the accusations made against me.

Speaking on Okay FM, Halifax Ansah-Addo stated that if he were to share what he knows about the events surrounding the 2023 Sing-a-Thon, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) would be compelled to invite her for questioning.

“Did she say when she opens her mouth to speak about the happenings at the 2023 Sing-a-Thon, heads will roll? Me too, when I speak, EOCO will invite her,” he declared.

Halifax elaborated, stating that beyond Bawumia’s GH¢20,000 cash donation, the amount spent on Afua Asantewaa by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) could have covered the salaries of over 500 people. He emphasized that the contract between the GTA and Afua Asantewaa involved substantial expenditures in the name of promoting tourism.

“If you read the contract with the GTA, you will marvel at the amount the Government of Ghana spent on her for goods and services. That money could pay the monthly salaries of 500 Ghanaians if we are going by the daily minimum wage,” he asserted, clarifying that this was separate from Bawumia’s donation.

Halifax also cited an invoice from the Accra City Hotel to the GTA, revealing that Afua Asantewaa was provided accommodation worth GH¢9,000. “Why would Accra City Hotel, formerly Novotel, issue this receipt to the GTA? An invoice for accommodation for Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, from the 21st to 24th December 2023, and 28th to 30th December 2023. Only you stayed in a room that cost GH¢9,000?” he questioned.

Addressing Afua’s claim of not directly receiving cash support from Bawumia, Halifax countered, “Isn’t the cost of Bawumia transporting his car to support her more than the lozenges she said she received?”

He further criticized Afua’s recent statements about not being informed by her husband about the cash donation, suggesting inconsistencies in her narrative.

“Isn’t it strange that she said her husband, who sleeps by her every night, did not inform her of the donation? It’s only when Socrate Safo and Salam exposed her that she admitted her husband and father were aware,” Halifax pointed out.
