Former Finance Minister Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta (popularly called Ken Ofori-Atta) has been declared “a fugitive for justice” by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) moments after reports emerged that his residence was raided by individuals dressed in military uniforms on Tuesday afternoon.
In a press conference, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng stated that Ofori-Atta is wanted to answer charges related to several cases, including:
- Contractual arrangements between Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited and the Ghana Revenue Authority concerning revenue assurance in the petroleum, minerals, and metals sectors.
- Termination of a distribution loss reduction project contract between the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) and Beijing Xiaocheng Technology (BFC).
- Procurement of contractors and materials, activities, and payments related to the National Cathedral project.
- Activities and payments related to a Ministry of Health contract awarded to service Ghana Auto Group Limited for the purchase and maintenance of 307 Mercedes Benz Sprinter ambulances.
- Payments and utilization of the Tax Refund Account of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
Reported Residence Raid
The alleged raid was initially reported by Channel1 TV on X (formerly Twitter), stating that it occurred at Ofori-Atta’s home in Cantonments while he was reportedly out of the country. The motive for the raid remains unclear.
Ofori-Atta served as the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning from 2017 to 2024 under former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Nana Aba Anamoah’s Criticism
Following reports of the raid, media personality Nana Aba Anamoah criticized Ken Ofori-Atta. In a post shared on X on February 12, 2025, Nana Aba Anamoah referred to the former finance minister as the worst the country has ever had.
She stated that he is receiving his just deserts due to his poor leadership. “I render no apologies when I say that this man is receiving his comeuppance. The worst finance minister, who hid his true colours behind Bible quotes and white outfits,” she said.
Furthermore, Nana Aba added that Ken Ofori-Atta should find a Bible quote to address his current situation, given his frequent use of scripture, stating, “Whatever he experiences now is fine. I’m certain he will find a quote for it in the good book, as usual.”
OSP Demands Return and Denies Staging Raid
The OSP has demanded Ofori-Atta’s immediate return to Ghana for questioning, warning of potential measures to ensure his compliance. Kissi Agyebeng refuted claims that Ofori-Atta had left the country for medical reasons.
Furthermore, Agyebeng denied reports that OSP officials conducted the alleged raid on Ofori-Atta’s residence on February 11, accusing the former minister of orchestrating the incident to mislead the public and undermine the OSP’s investigations.
Moreover, Ken Ofori-Atta, along with several other former officials from the previous administration, is currently under investigation.
