Richie Mensah, CEO of Lynx Entertainment, has refuted the prevalent belief in the creative arts industry that artistes departing his record label suffer from a decline in their careers.
In a recent interview on Hitz FM, Mensah emphasized that Lynx Entertainment is not cursed. He explained that the challenges faced by former artistes stem from the lack of investment and support after they leave the label, rather than any mythical curse.
“The music industry is challenging. Even with more than 60 workers, Lynx Group has challenges. When people see the outcome, they assume it’s simple for us, yet maintaining our current position requires a great deal of effort, commitment, and ideation. It is challenging when an artist departs from that arrangement and is left alone. It is difficult,” he said, “but they are not cursed.”
Mensah highlighted that there have been successful artistes who, after leaving Lynx Entertainment, managed to thrive in the industry. However, he noted that maintaining success becomes challenging without the extensive resources that come from being part of a larger team.
“Artistes have left Lynx and they did well. But what happens is, it’s hard to maintain that level because if you initially had 60 people working on your project… when you leave and you don’t have the power to employ as many people, that is when the input and output drop drastically. Sometimes, we should also stop judging certain things by success,” he added.

Lynx Entertainment has been home to various successful artistes like Kuami Eugene, DopeNation, and MzVee, all of whom have since departed the label. Currently, Kidi, DJ Vyrusky, and DSL are signed under a 360 deal.

Beef Between DopeNation And Kuami Eugene
In a twist, former Lynx signees DopeNation and Kuami Eugene have sparked a feud on social media following their exits from the record label. The drama started when Kuami Eugene expressed his satisfaction that DopeNation had left the label, viewing it as a chance for him to gain more resources.
However, DopeNation recently took to social media to mock Kuami Eugene after Richie Mensah revealed that Eugene was no longer with the label. In a post dated January 27, 2025, DopeNation remarked, “Let’s see how you carry the so-called ‘Lynx curse’ now. What was meant for four people is now for one person. We wish you well, @KuamiEugene.”
This post did not sit well with Kuami Eugene, who retaliated on social media by dismissing DopeNation’s music as “gym songs.” He asserted, “Anyone looking for attention to drop another gym song should wait. I’m dropping a classic on my birthday come Saturday for quality music listeners, and then I will make some time, ok?”
