Ghanaian rapper Amerado has expressed that he is unbothered by Stonebwoy’s “Psalm 23” winning the Reggae Song of the Year category at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), despite his own track “Ankonam” being nominated.

In an interview on Hitz FM on Monday, June 2, 2025, Amerado revealed that “Psalm 23” is one of his favorite songs by Stonebwoy, which helped him accept the outcome even though he had hoped to win in that category.

The ‘Kweku Ananse’ hitmaker made these comments when asked which category he was most optimistic about winning after receiving three nominations at the 2025 TGMA.

“But among the categories I was nominated for, I believed Ankonam would win Reggae Song of the Year. However, it went to Stonebwoy, which is fine because Psalm 23 is also one of my favorite songs by him,” he stated.

Before answering the host’s question, Amerado shared his disappointment that his song “Abronoma” was not nominated in the ‘Songwriter of the Year’ category, a nomination he had strongly anticipated.

He stated that “Abronoma” was one of the best-written songs of the year and truly deserved recognition. Its omission from the category was a major disappointment for him.

I expected to be nominated in the songwriter of the year category for Abronoma, and even now, I’m still amazed as to why I wasn’t included, Amerado said.

2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards winners

Ghana’s music scene shone bright on Saturday, May 10, as the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) lit up the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, celebrating another year of incredible homegrown talent.
