Seth Terkper Appointed As Presidential Advisor On The Economy

Seth Terkper, a former finance minister, has been named Ghana’s Presidential Advisor on the Economy, tasked with giving the president strategic advice on important economic issues. His duties include offering advice on debt management, fiscal policy, and methods to accelerate economic recovery. Ghana is facing serious economic challenges, including growing inflation, worries about public debt, and currency depreciation, at the time of this appointment. As a result of his position, Terkper is leading Ghana’s attempts to overcome these obstacles and promote long-term development. Under the administration of John Mahama, he will work closely with Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister-designate.

Seth Terkper brings a wealth of relevant experience to this advisory role, having served as Finance Minister from 2013 to 2017. During his tenure, he was instrumental in implementing key fiscal reforms aimed at improving public financial management and stabilizing the national economy. His background also includes negotiating Ghana’s Extended Credit Facility (ECF) program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and spearheading policies like the Energy Sector Levy Act (ESLA) to address energy sector debt. This appointment demonstrates the government’s commitment to utilizing expertise to address Ghana’s economic challenges.   • Stanislav Xoese Dogbe as Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations)
  • Nana Oye Bampoe Addo as Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration)
  • Professor Francis Dodoo as head of the National Anti-Corruption Programme
  • Larry Gbevlo-Lartey as Special Envoy to the Alliance of Sahelian States
  • Nana Yaa Jantuah and Beatrice Annangfio as Presidential Staffers
  • Shamima Muslim as Deputy Presidential Spokesperson; and
  • Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo as Cabinet Secretary.
