Plumber Sentenced to 12 Years for Sexual Extortion of SHS Graduate

A 26-year-old hairstylist and plumber named Philip Spain Narh was given a 12-year prison sentence by an Accra Circuit Court for sexually extorting a 19-year-old Senior High School graduate.
Narh was found guilty of exploiting the young woman by engaging in vaginal and anal sex with her under the false pretense of helping her become a website designer. He secretly recorded these encounters and subsequently published the nude scenes online in an attempt to blackmail her.
Seven charges were brought against him, including unlawful possession of narcotic narcotics, publication or sale of pornographic content, non-consensual sharing of intimate photos, and sexual extortion. Despite his not guilty plea, Narh was found guilty following a full trial.

The following facts were given to the court by the prosecution:
The complainant, whose name is being withheld, was introduced to the convict in late 2020 by a woman named Delphine via the Telegram social media platform. Narh falsely presented himself as “Sharon Stuttgart Woods,” a wealthy German-American woman involved in financial services who had come to Ghana for business. He further portrayed himself as a philanthropist interested in helping young “black girls” achieve their dreams, offering to assist the complainant in traveling abroad to study at MIT in Massachusetts.
The complainant, interested in IT and aspiring to become a web developer with the ultimate goal of creating Artificial Intelligence, shared her ambitions with “Sharon.”
In December 2020, Narh, still posing as “Sharon,” claimed to have arrived in Ghana and arranged a meeting with the complainant at a hotel in Dodowa. On the way to the meeting on December 8, 2020, Narh sent a message stating that “she” had been called for an urgent meeting and instructed the complainant to wait at Bawaleshie, at the residence of “her” driver’s brother. Unbeknownst to the victim, the “driver’s brother” was Narh himself.
Upon her arrival, Narh sent another message, demanding that the complainant have sex with the “driver” (himself) and that the act be recorded as a “loyalty test” and a pre-condition for receiving assistance with her MIT application. Narh then forced the complainant to have sex with him and recorded the encounter.
Feeling ashamed and betrayed, the complainant refused to contact Narh again and deleted her Telegram account after he demanded further sexual acts. However, Narh, driven by his desires, created another account under the name “Valquez Rodeo De Mel” and reached out to the victim.
He claimed to have been hired to leak her sex video but offered to help her since he knew her family. He suggested that the complainant meet with “Sharon Stuttgart Woods” to resolve the matter.
The blackmail began with Narh demanding anal and oral sex from the victim twice a month. He threatened to leak the sex video on a pornographic YouTube channel, WhatsApp, and Telegram if she refused.
On January 5, 2021, Narh made good on his threat, publishing the complainant’s nude photos and sex video on a Telegram link known as ADULT HOUSE, a pornographic channel. He then sent the link directly to the complainant.
Deeply distressed and suicidal after seeing the video, she confided in her best friend, who advised her to reluctantly agree to Narh’s demands.
On January 12, 2021, the complainant returned to Narh, pleading with him to ask “Stuttgart Woods” to delete the nude photos and video. However, Narh became violent, forcibly subjecting her to oral and vaginal sex, which he recorded and used to further blackmail her.
The victim, increasingly plagued by suicidal thoughts, finally confided in her coding tutor, who noticed her distress and helped her report the matter to the police.
Narcotics Discovered In Narh’s Room
Following Narh’s arrest, a search of his room uncovered two mobile phones containing the complainant’s nude photos and sex videos. Police also found a quantity of seeds, dried powdery substances, and liquid substances suspected to be narcotics.
Subsequent testing at the Police Forensic Laboratory on June 30, 2021, confirmed the presence of cannabis sativa, a narcotic drug. The powdery substances weighed 95.13 grammes, the seeds weighed 1.10 grammes, and another substance weighed 73.37 grammes. All tested positive for cannabis.
