Ofoase Kokoben SHS Students Demand Immediate Removal Of Headmistress

Students of Ofoase Kokoben Senior High School (OFKOSS) have voiced strong dissatisfaction with the management of the institution, alleging that Headmistress Mrs. Juliet Amankwaah Kessewaah lacks the necessary skills to effectively lead the school. As a result, the students are demanding her removal, citing “improper management” as the primary reason.
On Wednesday, February 19, the students staged a protest, expressing their grievances in a video that has since circulated on social media.
During the protest, students accused the headmistress of collecting money for various purposes that are never fulfilled. One student alleged that upon arrival at the school, students were charged for exeat books that have yet to be delivered. Consequently, they are forced to tear pages from their exercise books to sign for exeat permission.
The students also highlighted the lack of tables for Home Economics students to conduct their practical lessons. They claimed that the headmistress has prohibited the use of school tables for practical work, leaving students unsure of how to complete their assignments. Moreover, Visual Arts students have been evicted from their designated space, with Home Economics students taking over, leaving the former with no dedicated area.
Adding to the list of concerns is the issue of inadequate space in the boys’ dormitory. Students reported that the boys are struggling to find even a place to sleep, forcing them to sleep outdoors and exposing them to mosquito bites.

Reports From Students
“Since we reported, she has collected money for exeat books, but till date, the exeat book has not been delivered. We always tear sheets from our exercise books to request permission for her to sign before we can go out. Yet, when we return, she asks where our exeat books are. Even Home economics students don’t have tables for practical. We use the school’s tables for practical lessons, she has ordered that no one uses the tables for practical lessons anymore. So on what does she expect us to do our practical lessons. Food students are not allowed to use the tables neither are the clothing students allowed to do same.”
“She has vacated the Visual Arts students from their department and asked Home Economics students to occupy there with their stuff. So where does she want the Visual Arts students to go now? These are all included. The boys dormitory does not have enough space. The boys are not getting any place to sleep. They sleep outside where they are bitten by mosquitoes each and every day. She hasn’t paid attention to all these problem not to talk of solving them. She is rather interested in collecting our monies. She collects money for everything. She said she is spraying beds and she is collecting money from us for that”, the student said.
Ofoase Kokoben Senior High School (OFKOSS), located on the Kumasi-Obuasi Highway before Anwiankwanta, was established in 2010 by the community and integrated into the public system in 2013 as a public, mixed-day secondary school. It now offers boarding facilities for both boys and girls. The school’s population is estimated to be around 500 students.

some students are also facing a lot in other schools but doesn’t have the chance to voice out so if this students are able to voice out then the government must do something about it because we all are very particular about this kids improvement and not their down falls
