National Security Operatives Raid Former BoG Governor’s Residence

A news report reaching BigFamily News indicates that on March 19, 2025, Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations of the National Security Secretariat, led a raid on the home of Dr. Ernest Addison, a former governor of the Bank of Ghana.
BigFamily News stated that the raid happened at Dr. Addison’s home in Accra’s Roman Ridge. According to reports, heavily armed individuals with AK-47s and balaclavas arrived when Dr. Addison was at home.
The crew allegedly turned off all CCTV cameras before requesting that Dr. Addison show them the “vaults” in his home, according to the report. According to the source, Dr. Addison told them he had no vaults or other cash stash at home since he was shocked.
Minority Leader of Parliament Alexander Afenyo-Markin is reported to have visited Dr. Addison after the raid. In a post, Afenyo-Markin claimed the raid was led by Richard Jakpa, stating, “I visited the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Ernest Addison, whose house was raided by National Security operatives led by Richard Jakpa.”
This alleged raid follows a similar incident on February 11, where National Security operatives, reportedly also under Jakpa’s leadership, raided the residence of former Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta while he was out of the country. The OSP declared Ofori-Atta wanted the following afternoon, leading to speculation that the OSP’s declaration was influenced by the raid, which Ofori-Atta deemed illegal and a violation of privacy.
Following that raid, Kenneth Ofori-Atta sued DSP Bismark Boakye Ansah and Chief Inspector Mensah, two senior police officers, for allegedly conducting the illegal raid on his residence.
