All Last-Minute Gov’t Actions Will Be Reversed – NDC Transition Team

The Transition Team of President-elect John Dramani Mahama has strongly cautioned public servants against making hurried or last-minute hiring, payment, transfer, or promotion decisions at the request of departing political leaders. This warning comes after an agreement made on December 13, 2024, that such activities must be approved by the Joint Transition Team.

The Mahama Transition Team accused the departing NPP government of breaking these established procedures in a statement issued on December 17, 2024. Any unlawful hiring, promotions, or financial transactions—including those purportedly backdated—will be revoked upon the handover of power, the statement explicitly stated. It made clear that public servants who engage in such behavior will face consequences.

The Transition Team reiterated its commitment to a smooth and transparent transition, urging all stakeholders to comply with established guidelines. Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu stressed, “For the avoidance of doubt, all public officials are strongly cautioned to resist pressure from outgoing political actors to engage in these acts as they could attract severe consequences when the new government takes office.”
