Kwesi Nyantakyi Sacked Me Because Someone Told Him I Used Juju On Him – George Afriyie

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President George Afriyie has alleged that outside influences played a big role in the breakdown of his once-strong bond with former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi.
George Afriyie clarified in an interview with Metro TV that the separation between him and Nyantakyi—which sprang from Afriyie’s aspirations to become president—became the primary cause of their relationship’s total collapse. He claimed that people who wanted Nyantakyi’s favor and support took advantage of the circumstance by telling the ex GFA president unfavorable things about him. Afriyie claims that similar attempts to harm his relationship with Nyantakyi existed before he was vice president.
According to him, a candidate for the job told Nyantakyi that if he named Afriyie his vice president, he would be killed.
“My intention to contest the elections before Number 12 created a rift between me and Kwesi Nyantakyi. Some people pounced on the rift to deepen the woes. People would go to Kwesi and say that I was part of those who planned the Number 12 documentary,” Afriyie stated. “Prior to Kwesi appointing me as Vice President, someone went to Kwesi and said that I had gone to a juju man to ensure that I was appointed Vice President of GFA and that a year after my appointment he was going to die,” he added.

George Afriyie has also been discussing his relationship with Kwesi Nyantakyi, including the infamous text message he sent. In a separate interview with Asempa FM, he disclosed that a meeting held by Nyantakyi after Ghana’s game against Mexico in June 2017 led to his dismissal. Afriyie explained that he was tagged as an NDC (National Democratic Congress) member and accused of sabotage, which prompted him to send the text message. He said, “They held a meeting in Asiamah’s (former Minister for Youth and Sports) office without me, even though I was the chairman of the Black Stars management team.
During the meeting, they said I was an NDC member and that’s why I was sabotaging the GFA. Everything they said in the meeting was relayed to me by someone who was present. That person even told me that the person I had always defended was the one tagging me as NDC and accusing me of sabotage.” Afriyie also revealed that he sent the text message to two other people close to Nyantakyi in an effort to make them aware of the situation. “I’m revealing it today. I sent the message to two other people—two of his best friends who are loyal to Kwesi Nyantakyi: Sannie Daara and Nana Kwame Nketiah of Berekum Chelsea. I wanted them to know how the man we were helping had turned against us,” he added.
