According to reports, a bride in Jigawa State poisoned the food given at the reception, killing one wedding guest and seriously injuring the husband. The state’s Jahun Local Government Area was the scene of the tragedy.
The bride may have acted out of personal animosity, according to eyewitness testimony given to PUNCH Online. Shi’isu Adam, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the event to the media on Friday and said that an inquiry is being conducted.
According to Adam, they were informed that the groom was quite unwell after the bride contaminated the food at the wedding reception.

He added , “Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged food poisoning incident that occurred during a wedding ceremony in the state.” The Criminal Investigation Department is currently holding and questioning the two suspects, who have been identified as the bride and another woman. According to the police spokesperson, “We will do everything in our power to ensure that justice is served.”
According to the police, all wedding attendees who consumed the poisoned food have been discharged from the hospital, except for the one confirmed fatality. “The command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and we will provide more details as soon as possible. For now, we can confirm that the incident occurred, and we are working tirelessly to unravel the facts.
“We urge the public to remain calm and assured that justice will be served,” the spokesman concluded. The authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased, the groom, or any of the other victims.
