Group Urges Mahama To Revoke of Appointments Of Kafui Danku & James Gardiner

President John Dramani Mahama has been encouraged by the Association of Ghanaian Creatives to reevaluate the recent appointments of James Gardiner and Kafui Danku to the National Film Authority (NFA). The arts stakeholders believe that the two individuals lack the necessary qualifications for their respective roles.
Recently, President Mahama appointed Kafui Danku as the Executive Secretary of the NFA, with James Gardiner serving as her Deputy. However, in a petition that has garnered over twenty signatures, the Association is advocating for the president to explore alternative candidates.
As the Association of Ghanaian Creatives’ undersigned members, we implore the government to designate capable, forward-thinking leadership for the NFA. According to the petition, the institution needs to be directed by a technocrat with extensive knowledge of the business and backed by a board of seasoned creative experts who can guide the industry toward rejuvenation and global competitiveness.

• Jim Awindor (Film and television strategist)
• Akofa Edjeani Asiedu (Veteran filmmaker and policymaker)
• Professor Linus Abraham (Media and communication expert)
• Akosua Abdallah (Film education and policy expert)
• Ms. Nicole Amarteifio (Pioneering filmmaker and industry advocate)
Joselyn Dumas Appointed as Deputy Director For Diaspora Affairs
In related news, it was reported on March 2 that celebrated Ghanaian actress and television host Joselyn Dumas has been appointed as the Deputy Director for Diaspora Affairs by President Mahama. This announcement has attracted significant attention and praise from the public and industry peers. However, subsequent reports indicated that this announcement might have been inaccurate, with BigFamily News awaiting confirmation from the Office of the President.

If confirmed, Dumas will join fashion icon Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), who currently serves as the director of the Diaspora Affairs Office. In her new role, Dumas is expected to utilize her extensive network and public influence to enhance relationships between Ghana and its diaspora community.
The Diaspora Affairs Office of the President (DAOOP), established in February 2017, aims to serve as a bridge between the Ghanaian government and its diaspora, harnessing their resources and expertise for national development while emphasizing their role in providing market access, investment, and technological advancements.
