An ambitious schedule of cultural events and performances around the United States in 2025 has been announced by the Ghana Dance Association.
With the theme “The Door of Return,” these gatherings will highlight the diversity of Ghanaian customs and seek to strengthen ties between Africa and the African diaspora. Through enthralling performances of traditional dance, music, and storytelling, audiences will be fully immersed in Ghanaian culture.
Performances are scheduled at a number of notable events, such as the Global Goals Arts Festival in Walnut Hill Park, New Britain, Connecticut (August 11-16, 2025), the Black History Festival in New York City (February 26–March 1, 2025), the Ohio Black Expo in Columbus, Ohio (May 24-26, 2025), the Juneteenth Festival in College Park City, Atlanta, Georgia (June 15–16, 2025), and the Juneteenth Celebration in New York City (June 19–20, 2025). Other appearances will be announced later. The association will also take part in the Global Africa Forum.
A special delegation of performers, comprised of dancers, singers, instrumentalists, choreographers, and leaders from the Ghana Dance Association, will collaborate with local U.S. groups to present grand showcases of indigenous Ghanaian dance and culture. Beyond performances, interactive workshops and educational sessions will be offered in various locations, providing local communities with hands-on experiences in drumming, storytelling, and traditional dance.
The Ghana Dance Association, which includes notable groups such as the Sususma Pan African Dance Ensemble, Ghana Cultural Ballet, Sasa Cultural Troupe, and Dromo Dance Ensemble, recently provided a preview of their “Door of Return” performance. This sneak peek occurred during the African Diaspora Business and Development Stakeholders Workshop in Accra, where their captivating presentation was enthusiastically received by attendees.
The 2025 U.S. tour aims to both entertain and nurture cultural exchange, strengthening the ties between Africa and its diaspora. Through these performances and engaging interactive sessions, the Ghana Dance Association hopes to highlight the enduring vibrancy of African heritage and its continuing relevance on the global stage.
