EC Schedules Media Briefings On Elections For December 7

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana will hold regular media briefings on Election Day, December 7th, 2024, to provide the public with updates on the electoral process and promote transparency. These briefings are scheduled to take place at 9:00 am, 12:00 noon, 3:00 pm, and 6:00 pm.

Additional briefings will be held from 9:00 pm onwards, as results are received from different regions. Each briefing session is expected to last no longer than 30 minutes. Media personnel possessing accreditation cards for the National Collation Centre are invited to attend these briefings.

The EC will utilize these briefings to address and respond to various news reports and stories emerging from across the country during the election. In a statement released on Thursday, December 5th, 2024, Samuel Tettey, the Deputy EC Chairman responsible for Operations, announced the scheduled briefings. He urged both the media and the general public to verify any election-related information with the EC directly to counter the spread of misinformation. Mr. Tettey reiterated the EC’s unwavering commitment to conducting free, fair, transparent, credible, and peaceful elections. He emphasized the EC’s willingness to collaborate with media outlets to ensure the electoral process is effectively communicated to the Ghanaian citizenry.

The EC has provided a toll-free number, 0800 324 324, for the public to seek clarifications or additional information during the election period.
