Rev. Charlotte Oduro has been under fire from Kumawood actress Christiana Awuni because of her recent split from Apostle Solomon Oduro.
On February 11, 2025, Awuni asked in an interview with Max TV why Oduro hasn’t implemented the contentious counsel she frequently offers to women in partnerships. She cited other examples in which Oduro urged women to remain in bad unions, claiming that since no marriage is flawless, it is inexplicable that she hasn’t heeded her own advice.

Awuni remarked that if Oduro had truly practiced what she preached, she would not be facing divorce. “At that time, she was telling women to tolerate their partners’ bad behaviors and endure their relationships. Now she’s divorced? Life is unpredictable; we never know what tomorrow holds. So, when others are suffering, we should be mindful of our words,” Awuni said.
She added, “Perhaps she believed she was giving helpful advice, but it doesn’t work that way. You can’t counsel couples without understanding their circumstances. Her focus has often been on women, not men. You can’t keep insisting that women endure their marriages and show respect to their husbands. If you respected yours, would he have left you?” she questioned.
When asked if Oduro should apologize for her controversial marriage advice that has left many Ghanaian women feeling bitter, Awuni replied, “If she feels no shame, then she should come forward and apologize to us.”
Additionally, musician Mzbel and fashion critic Charlie Dior have also voiced their concerns on social media regarding the nature of Rev. Charlotte Oduro’s teachings. Charlie Dior specifically criticized the one-sidedness of her advice, which often places the responsibility of maintaining a marriage solely on women.
