Bullgod Endorses Rex Omar For Tourism Minister

Bullgod, the well-known entertainment critic and artist manager, Nana Asiamah Hanson, has thrown his support behind veteran musician Rex Omar to become the next Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts under a possible John Mahama government.
With discussions ongoing about key ministerial appointments within Mahama’s envisioned 60-minister team, Rex Omar, alongside Dzifa Gomashie and Baba Sadiq, has been named as a leading candidate. During an interview on Empire FM with Feeling Daddy, Bullgod specifically championed Rex Omar, citing his strong leadership at the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO).
“I believe in placing individuals in positions based on their dedication and commitment. While qualifications are important, character is even more crucial. Their commitment to service is what truly matters, and Rex has demonstrated that. His contributions at GHAMRO have been outstanding,” Bullgod stated.
He also criticized those within the creative industry who oppose Rex Omar’s potential appointment, specifically calling out Kumawood actor Big Akwes. “Big Akwes has no locus on who is going to do what. He’s always been a sympathizer of the NPP, so if he makes a recent U-turn and joins the campaign for John Mahama, he doesn’t get to antagonize people who have been doing the work since 2016. Myself, Rex, Sadiq, and Ola Michael have been in this bloc since 2016.”
Bullgod further cautioned against unnecessary internal disputes within the industry, warning that such divisions weaken their collective influence. “For me, it’s too early for us to be fighting over anything. This is why politicians don’t take us seriously. This is why they may overlook us and go for someone who doesn’t appreciate our struggles.” Reflecting on the educational backgrounds of previous ministers, Bullgod questioned their actual impact on the creative sector. “With all their education, what has been their contribution to the sector? It’s about time we prioritize service and dedication.” Bullgod’s endorsement contributes to the ongoing debate surrounding who should lead the ministry, as the creative arts industry awaits Mahama’s ministerial selections.
