Anne Sansa Fake Doctor Saga: We Are Unable To Locate A Record Under This Name – Johns Hopkins University

The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the USA has responded to inquiries regarding the medical credentials of Anne Sansa Daly, who has publicly presented herself as a doctor and medical practitioner. This action followed an official request from Reginald Sekyi-Brown, a concerned pharmacist in Ghana.
On May 25, 2025, Sekyi-Brown wrote to the Office of the Registrar at Johns Hopkins, seeking verification of Sansa Daly’s credentials. He specifically asked if she was an alumna, the degrees she may have earned, and her graduation timeline. Furthermore, he sought to confirm if her reported medical credentials qualified her to practice medicine in the United States and what certifications, if any, granted her such authority.
The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine responded, stating, “Hello, We are unable to locate a record under this name,” indicating they found no record of a person by that name as an alumna or former student.
Background: Public Scrutiny and Presidential Revocation
On May 23, President John Dramani Mahama revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly as a board member of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), an appointment he had made on May 19. This decision followed public concerns and outrage regarding her credentials, with allegations of falsified qualifications. Reports had emerged questioning her valid license to practice medicine in Ghana.
Daly had been publicly presenting herself as “Dr. Anne Daly” and offering health advice on television and at public events. However, official responses from both the Ghana Medical and Dental Council and the American Board of Family Medicine confirmed that she holds no valid medical qualifications in either jurisdiction.
The revocation of her appointment was conveyed in a letter dated May 23, 2025, addressed to the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama. The letter stated, “I write to inform you that the President of the Republic has, with immediate effect, revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly as a member of the Board of National Health Insurance Authority. The President has nominated Prof. Dr. (Med) Ernest Yorke to replace her as a member of the Board.” The minister was instructed to facilitate the swearing-in of her replacement.
Confusion Over Swearing-In and Official Clarification
Adding to the confusion, a report on the official Facebook page of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) on May 28 mistakenly stated that Anne Sansa Daly had been sworn in as a member of the new board, contradicting the President’s directive issued on May 23. The Facebook post initially indicated that Sansa Daly, along with Dr. Divine Ndonbi Banyubala and Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, would provide legal expertise to the board.

However, the NHIA’s Facebook post was later edited, replacing Anne Sansa Daly’s name with Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke. This inconsistency led to widespread confusion among netizens regarding whether Sansa Daly had indeed been sworn in, especially given the initial allegations of her using fake medical credentials.

The Ministry of Health later clarified the situation, confirming that Ms. Anne Sansa Daly was not sworn in as a member of the NHIA Board. In a statement dated Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the Ministry acknowledged the initial appointment letter of May 19, 2025, but stressed that a subsequent letter on May 23, 2025, “revoked her appointment and appointed her replacement.” The Ministry reiterated its commitment to transparency and due process in public appointments.
President Could Be Misled
Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer for the 2024 election, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged the National Security and the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to conduct thorough background checks on all presidential appointees, particularly those serving on boards of public institutions.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Aboagye emphasized that such measures would help prevent embarrassing situations for the presidency, noting that the president could be misled in certain instances. He suggested that sometimes, names on final appointment lists are altered without the president’s knowledge.
“My call is that National Security should conduct background checks on all the president’s appointees and submit a report, because the president may be misled in several instances,” Aboagye stated. He added, “There are people with appointments that were not directly sanctioned by the president, their names were inserted without his knowledge.”
Aboagye concluded by advocating for National Security and the NIB to prioritize these efforts to support the president, as “many people are walking around with fake credentials.” The ongoing confusion surrounding Anne Sansa Daly’s appointment is largely believed to stem from the initial, erroneous NHIA Facebook post that listed her as sworn in, instead of correctly stating that Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke had replaced her.
In all, it is believed that the agitation and confusion stems from the initial NHIS Facebook page that stated mistakenly that Anne Sansa Daly was sworn in instead of replacing Anne with Dr (Med) Ernest Yorke.
