16-Year-Old Footballer Allegedly Sodomized By His Coach

A 16-year-old football player named Ransford is battling for his life in Kumasi’s Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after he claims a coach from his team, Siano Soccer Academy, sodomized him. After years of sexual assault, Ransford and his mother shared a sorrowful story that exposed the horrific revelation.

Asamanye in the Ashanti Region, Ransford’s mother talked about her early reluctance to allow her son to enroll in the Amasaman-based soccer academy three years ago on Oyerepa FM.

Despite turning down the prestigious WAFA Academy previously, she reluctantly agreed to his transfer due to concerns that she might hinder his football career, especially after scouts showed interest in his talent. Now, she deeply regrets her decision, having learned that her son was allegedly sodomized by coach Ibrahim Anyass.

She explained that she visited her son periodically with food for three years, until she fell ill and could no longer maintain regular contact. When she couldn’t reach the coach, she contacted her son who told her the team’s phones had been confiscated. Two weeks later she received news that he was sick. When the coach downplayed the situation, she decided to visit, and discovered her son was not getting the care he was promised.

According to the mother, she knew if she didn’t act, her son would die in a matter of days. She brought him home, and since then, the family has been moving from hospital to hospital, when she learned of the abuse. After his confession, she says her son went into a coma, and has been battling for his life for three months.

A day after the occurrence was shared on Oyerepa FM, officials from Siano Soccer Academy visited the station to engage with Ransford’s mother and the show’s host. The club also issued a statement announcing the suspension of coach Ibrahim Anyass, pending further investigations. Ransford remains admitted at the Komfo Anokye Hospital, where his mother is appealing for financial assistance to cover his medical bills.
